Gender diversity snapshot

In 2021, the Australian Investment Council and McKinsey looked at investment teams across private equity and venture capital firms active in Australia.  We looked at female representation across all levels of seniority and attrition levels.

The good news is that the private capital sector continues to improve its record. More women are working in our industry than ever before, and there is a greater proportion of women in the senior ranks of private equity and venture capital firms. It’s a welcome result and the Australian Investment Council is pleased that, collectively, our members are contributing to the gender parity shift taking place in the community.

Parental leave policy

The policy is designed to assist private capital firms and their portfolio wanting to reflect the needs of modern families in their own parental leave policies. The policy outlines standard and best practice policy measures for employees caring for their children whether a newborn child, a child born via surrogacy, or for a child placed with them for adoption. It also aims to provide support for those returning from parental leave.
