THE AUSTRALIAN INVESTMENT COUNCIL SUPPORTS SOCIAL IMPACT INVESTING AND WORKPLACE GIVING THROUGH TWO IMPORTANT PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS.

WORKPLACE GIVING AUSTRALIA

Workplace Giving Australia helps employers establish giving programs, allowing employees to make pre-tax donations which provide charities with predictable, low-cost and efficient funding for their community-facing activities The Council’s member firms, alongside private capital-backed investee companies, proudly support the work of WGA, which helps the WGA get closer to its goal of reaching one million Australians giving to charity through their workplace. The Council is pleased to be shortlisted as a finalist for the 2021 Workplace Giving Excellence Awards, which will take place on 30 November 2021. A number of the Council’s members have also been shortlisted.

SOCIAL VENTURES AUSTRALIA

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at alleviating disadvantage in the community – to create an Australia where all people and communities thrive. SVA achieves its objectives through a variety of different strategies, one of which is its impact investing programme. Through this strategy, SVA can seek to influence systems in order to ensure that better social outcomes are realised for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing insights and perspectives to bring about change.

NEW TOOLS AND RESOURCES FOR OUR INDUSTRY

Earlier this year, the Council launched aic.co/invest, a centralised resources and information hub on private capital for emerging investors, entrepreneurs and business owners who are looking to understand more about the industry and for members who are seeking support material to explain private capital to investors and potential investee companies. The hub contains guidelines and templates, information about the investment process and private capital case studies.
The Council also launched a Private Capital Series – a suite of fact sheets which explain Private Equity, Venture Capital, Private Credit and Corporate Venture Capital for those who are new to the industry and demonstrates how each of these asset classes operate within the private capital ecosystem. This series will continue to expand in 2022.
